Liability Policy

Last updated: [05/02/2026]

This Liability Policy applies to all events, activities, and participation organised by Middle of Nowhere. By attending an event or taking part in any activity, you acknowledge and accept the terms outlined below.

Assumption of risk

Hiking and outdoor activities carry inherent risks, including but not limited to slips, trips, falls, adverse weather conditions, wildlife encounters, and physical strain. By participating, you accept that such risks cannot be eliminated and that you take part entirely at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Middle of Nowhere, its organisers, volunteers, and group leaders shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, damage, or expense suffered as a result of participation in our activities. This includes, but is not limited to, personal injury, illness, property damage, or loss arising during or as a result of an event.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Personal responsibility

Participants are responsible for their own actions and decisions during events. This includes following guidance given by group leaders, staying with the group unless otherwise agreed, and making sensible judgments based on their own abilities and conditions on the day.

You are also responsible for your own equipment and belongings. Middle of Nowhere accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.

Health and medical matters

You confirm that you are physically and medically fit to take part in the activity. Middle of Nowhere is not responsible for any health issues that arise during or after an event. Any medical information shared with us is provided voluntarily and remains your responsibility.

Third-party services and locations

Some activities may involve public rights of way, private land (with permission), or third-party services. Middle of Nowhere accepts no liability for the condition of land, facilities, or services provided by third parties.

Emergency situations

In the event of an emergency, you consent to basic first aid being administered and, if necessary, emergency services being contacted. Any costs incurred remain your responsibility.
